UPCOMING HACKATHON

GreenHack Youth Hackathon: Turning challenges in sustainable agriculture into solutions

What if a problem you see around you could become the starting point for a green solution?

Following the GreenHack Youth training and mentoring activities, E.VA Educazione Creativa is preparing young participants for the next stage of the project: the GreenHack Youth Hackathon on Sustainable Agriculture and Horticulture.

The hackathon will give young people the opportunity to move from learning about sustainability to creating solutions.

Participants will work with real challenges connected to agriculture, horticulture, food and the environment. These may include issues such as efficient water use, soil health, food waste, biodiversity, sustainable urban growing, local food systems, resource efficiency or the use of simple digital technologies to support more sustainable practices.

Working in teams and supported by mentors, participants will be encouraged to:

  • identify a concrete environmental or community challenge;

  • understand who is affected by the problem and why;

  • generate and compare possible solutions;

  • develop a realistic green project idea;

  • consider its environmental and social value;

  • present their solution to others.

The focus is not on finding a perfect or highly technical solution. Sustainable innovation can also begin with a simple, practical idea that responds to a real local need.

The hackathon builds directly on the pre-hackathon training implemented by E.VA, during which young participants explored sustainable agriculture, soil, water, food systems and climate and began identifying environmental challenges that could be transformed into project ideas.

The GreenHack Youth Hackathon will now provide a space to take the next step:

Observe a problem. Build a team. Develop an idea. Create a green solution.
